Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I have been practicing law for 19 years. I joined the law firm of Gohn Hankey Stichel & Berlage seven years ago as a partner. My partners and I have different yet complimentary legal specialties and my decision to join the firm has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
What is your primary product or service?
I offer legal services primarily in the areas of business litigation/disputes, intellectual property, and bankruptcy filings for consumers. I have also done many civil litigation cases and rarely turn down an opportunity where I can either help someone, resolve a challenging situation, or grow professionally- hopefully, all three are achieved in most situations.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have always had a strong sense of right and wrong. In my early life, I experienced and witnessed many situations that helped me develop a sensitivity to fairness and justice. That desire for fairness and justice, while maintaining one's integrity and character, led me to a career in law.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I always rely on my guiding principles of integrity and trying to better myself and the profession I practice. My bottom line doesn't end with a dollar sign. It ends with me feeling proud of a job well done. I'm sure many others in my profession do the same so I'm not sure it differentiates me but it is the philosophy that guides me.
